Directions:

  1. Hold the split ring at the rear of the Free Slider between your thumb and forefinger (see figure 1 below).
  2. Place the thumb and forefinger of your other hand on the two fins located on the collar cap (see figure 1 below). Pull the cap down until it clears the slide, turn the collar just a hair to the left holding the Free Slider in a cocked position.
  3. Place your main fishing line in the notch in the Pin of the Free Slider, turn the collar just a hair to the right until the collar snaps into place.
  4. Tie 50 to 70 inches of additional line to the Free Slider swivel. Tie your lure, trolling spoon or cut bait on the other end of this line (see figure 3 below).

When a fish hits on the Free Slider, it will slide down and release the primary line from the downrigger release.

More Details:

  1. Place the mono going to the primary lure, fastened to the downrigger release, here.
  2. Turn the collar until the key drops into the keyway slot, opposite to the wings on the collar.
  3. The mono will pass through this slot and spring tension will hold it.
  4. The slots in the collar and pin allow the Free Slider to move up and down the primary line.
